Professional

Nell Waliczek is a Principal Engineer at AWS specializing in Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality with Amazon Sumerian team. In addition, she is the Spec Editor of the W3C WebXR Device API and Amazon’s representative to the W3C. Prior to her time at Amazon, Nell spent roughly thirteen years working at Microsoft on everything from HoloLens, Edge, Xbox, phones, and more. Before Microsoft, she worked various other places including the Digital Human Research Center in Tokyo and The Motley Fool. Nell graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a B.A. in Japanese, B.S. in Computer Science, and a minor in Robotics. Turning the way-back machine further, Nell attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.

Personal

Based in Seattle, Nell Waliczek appreciates the beauty of the Pacific Northwest but isn’t particularly interested in hiking, skiing, snowboarding, climbing or any of the other sporty activities that enthrall many Seattlites. You’re much more likely to find her being jumped on by her children while preaching to them about the importance of power tool safety. Well, either that or at the fabric store dreaming about projects she never seems to have time for. Or, if she’s really lucky, she can be found curled up reading a book. Once upon a time, Nell used to be an active Salsa dancer.
